Officer buckles of the RKKA (Workers' and Peasants' Red Army) were used during the Soviet Union, in particular during the Second World War. The sign on the buckle, depicting a star with a hammer and sickle, is typical of Soviet military symbols and symbolizes the unity of workers and peasants.
This particular buckle probably dates from the pre-war or World War II period, when such patterns were widely distributed among Red Army officers. The wear and tear of time on the metal indicates that it may have been in use for a long time or may have been preserved as a historical artifact.
Red Army officer buckles were used to fasten belts that were part of the officer's uniform. These buckles had several functions and meanings:
    - buckles were used to fasten a belt that was worn around the waist and served to support pants or trousers. The belt could also be used to attach various accessories, such as holsters, or other tools.
    - a buckle with a star and a hammer and sickle made it easy to identify a soldier as an officer of the Red Army. This was important both for recognizing one's own and for maintaining discipline and organization in the army.
    - the symbolism of a star with a hammer and sickle on a buckle reflected the ideology of the Soviet Union and emphasized the unity of workers and peasants, which was the main ideological platform of the communist state.
    - wearing a buckle of the appropriate pattern was mandatory for officers, and it also served as a mark of their rank and status in the army.
Buckles of this type are historically significant artifacts that are often collected by military collectors and historians. They can also be used in museums or exhibitions dedicated to the military history of the Soviet Union.
