    Description

Autographed Vesenberg of St. Petersburg carte de visite photograph of Dolina as Ratmir in "Ruslan and Ludmila.
Dolina (1868-1919) was born to a military officers family and was afforded the opportunity to study in Naples with Beniamino Carelli (de Lucia, Arangi-Lombardi, Amato etc) and Federigo Mastriani in Milan. She made her opera debut in St. Petersburg in the role of Vanya in "A Life for the Tsar" in 1886. The role became a calling card. She created the role of Kontchakovna in the World Premiere of Borodin's "Prince Igor" in 1890. She also created the role of the Countess in the World Premiere of Tchaikovsky's "Pique Dame" in 1890; as well as Laura in "Iolanta" in 1892. Dolina unlike many of her colleagues also had a European career, singing in major opera houses and on the concert platform in cities including Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Dresden, Budapest, Belgrade and Zagreb.
