    Description

At 75 I’m a retiring antique dealer who is beginning to clean out his stock of stored treasures.
For about forty years I was a pretty fanatical collector of early American flags and lots of other patriotic flag collectibles.
I was honored to have a great collection of them, but I always knew that I was only their custodian for a while and eventually it would be time to move them on to their next owner.
This 48-star flag has an early staggered row configuration that was printed before President Taft’s 1912 executive order mandating our 48-star flag position the stars in straight rows and columns.
Likewise, his order declared that our national banner no longer be used as an advertising backdrop.
However, the International Order of Odd Fellows obviously didn’t get the word before they overprinted their initials on this flag.
Likewise it was printed on what is now considered to be the reverse side of the flag with the canton to the right, but this was common before 1912.
Buyer to pay shipping within the United States.
Due to ebay policies, I reluctantly have a “no returns” policy, so look closely at photos and ask questions first.
