Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique Fancy Ornate Model 1860 "Named" Odd Fellows 'Turn Of The Century' Ceremonial Fraternal "Patriarchs Militant" IOOF Odd Fellows Sword, made by C.E. Ward & Co. New London Ohio USA.  This is a Very Unusual Fancy Patriarchs Militant Sword, Styled after the U.S. Civil War Model 1860 Staff And Field Officers Sword, Very Rare!!! It Most Likely Belonged to a High Ranking Officer. This is Very Rare as the
The Patriarchs Militant are the Uniformed Branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), One of the Oldest and Largest Fraternal Orders in the World Today. The Patriarchs Militant were established by the Sovereign Grand Lodge - The International Governing Body of Odd Fellowship - back in 1885. The Blade is Etched with the Former Owner's Name "Herman V. Pundt". It is also is Signed by the Maker "C.E. Ward & Co. New London O", with Fancy Designs.  The Steel Metal Scabbard is Original has Intricate Applied Ornate Designs including "Pax Aut Bellum" for Peace or War, "PM" for Patriarchs Militant, with Ornate 'Acorn' Bottom Tip. The Sword measures approx. 40" Long with the Scabbard. The Sword itself measures approx. 39 1/4" Long with a 32" Blade. The Sword has a Celluloid Handle with Engraved Designs, and Aristocratic Crowned Globe Pommel. The M1860 Style Ornate Gold Gilt Dual Clamshell Cross Guard Has Ornate Designs in High Relief of "King's Crown, Sword and Staff" and "The Three Links Of Odd Fellowship", With Shield Design on the Reverse, Absolutely Stunning!!!
