    Description

You're bidding on "Ridgely Monument", an antique handcolored lithographic print, published circa 1886 by the Sovereign Grand Lodge I.O.O.F., Baltimore, MD. "Erected in Harlem Park, Baltimore, Md. U.S.A. 1886 by the voluntary contributions of the members of the Independent Order Of Odd Fellows, to commemorate the services of James L. Ridgely, Grand Secretary, from April 24th, 1840 until his Death, November 18th, 1881.
Ridgley was a prominent figure in both the Odd Fellows and in Baltimore politics - largely responsible for getting the first Grand Lodge constructed in the city - which was also the National Headquarters. He was also authored "History of American Odd Fellowship - The First Decade", the first published history of the organization, as well as other early manuals, periodicals and texts. The monument still stands in Harlem Square Park.
Note that I removed the print from damaged original framing, and it does have condition issues - including varying degrees of age toning and streaking from light exposure, as well as some wrinkle from past humidity and some moisture stain at bottom right corner. SEE PHOTOS, SOLD AS IS AS FOUND.
That said, still nice color and appeal - an engaging scene depicting the swells of Baltimore gathering and admiring the monument, in a lush, wooded park. Nice Odd Fellows ephemera, scarce to find in any condition. 18" X 22 1/2" dimensions.
Please review photos carefully to make your own determination of overall condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
