    Description

Album of Odd Fellows Homes, c.1800s, with lots of photos of different Odd Fellow Halls mainly in larger population areas. Excellent condition with lots of historical information covering all of the Odd Fellows endeavors including orphanages and homes for "the aged and infirmed," as well as active individuals. The Odd Fellows apparently set standards of behavior for both males and females, "because any lack of those qualifications will reflect discredit on our institutions."
The author and publisher Joseph M. Wolfe was a member of the St. Anthony Lodge No. 40 of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He said he spent 45 years with the organization that "benefited the homeless, both young and old."
